FROM THE VAULT: 1988 interview

steveanddave1988

Let’s dig into the vault for an interview from 1988, thirty years ago, discussing Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son among other things.

It’s the summer of 1988, Iron Maiden have just released their Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son album, and Steve Harris is talking about touring, writing, recording and the upcoming Donington show.

About halfway through Dave Murray joins in as well.

No major revelations, but still it’s fun to see and hear them talking about their band in “real time”, no hindsight, just how it was to be Iron Maiden in 1988:

  1. Saw Maiden in the Cart and Horses pub in East London, in 1976. Paul Mario Day was singing. Paul was my old school mate from Tom Hood school. Lovely lad. Then I saw Maiden at Wembley in 1988. Just after 7th Son was released. Still my all time favourite Maiden album.

    • Great story, Mike! You have really been around from the very beginning, that’s fantastic. Cheers!

      • No problems. Paul Dianno was an old friend too, before he joined Maiden. And Maiden roadie, Steve Loopy Newhouse. We go waaaay back to 1972. Great daze lol!!!

      • Loopy was kind enough to give Maiden Revelations a shout-out in his book, that was very kind of him.
